Here is the most important of the follow-up activities, and the one that comes with a special free “thank you” from me to you:

Pop Quiz Homework

  • Thank you Misty, for completing the homework assignment. The complimentary ebook will be in your inbox shortly. 🙂

  • 1. Novelty – The pop quiz and standing and stretching is something that I will use to keep people engaged and involved.
    2. Contrast – People will retain information that is new or in contrast to what they have learned before.
    3. Meaning – Convey to the audience why this information is meaningful and important.
    4. Emotion – Utilizing stories to help connect information to emotions. Also some of the images on the slides conveyed emotion.

  • Great Presentation today! You used all four of the elements (novelty, contrast, meaning, and emotion) and more during your presentation.
Novelty – The very first exercise. 12345678910 = ?. Both here and throughout you used techniques for the visual, auditory and kinaesthetic learner.
Contrast – You used lots of contrasting colors, slides, thoughts and explanations.
Meaning – You told us why you were having us ‘do’ all of the different exercises. You made it meaningful to us, the learners.
Emotion – The blue alligator. 🙂
Thank you for making this presentation worth my time.

  • Novelty of the pictures caught attention. Definitely contrasted with the usual slide shows and webinars and therefore had more meaning all the way through. Nice use of light humor aided attention.
    Thanks!

  • Novelty & Contrast: You actually had us do the exercises rather than just tell us about them. i.e. stand & stretch; quick speak; pop quiz
Meaning & Emotion: Plenty of images; a few stories and metaphors.
Great Priming and setting the stage with actual webinar intro. I really appreciated the use of the ‘pop quiz homework’ task before the webinar. It ‘primed’ me for learning and built expectation of both subject and for engagement.

  • The element of MEANING was used during the “Brain-Based Presenting” webinar by telling us the why or “personal relevancy” to connect them to the information. For example, right in the beginning you caught my attention by explaining that the brain “can’t do anything else” or multitask when writing. The brain needs to focus on the topic at hand & in this case, very successfully from the start getting the brain to pay attention. Thanks so much for this concise webinar that has helped me focus on a improving my presenting skills.

  • Great webinar! Easy to implement and modelled well. Slides got my attention and I will remember the images that are linked to key points. By not having a lot of writing, I was able to capture some great notes, that were well guided by you. Appreciated to down time to write. Liked the way of connecting what you already know to where going with the Quick write…immediate focus. Even alone in my office, I felt the impact of standing, stretching and speaking one thing outloud. Enjoyed the NOT THIS contrast to the way the class should be. There is not one thing I will NOT use! By thinking of my own classes and actions it created a great meaning Your slides showed contrast, definitely evoked emotion and you allowed us to “choose two”…another technique. Enjoyed the pop quiz and doing the Thumbs up and down action. Going to follow my action I wrote. Thanks

  • Good webinar! The elements of Novelty, Contrast, Meaning and Emotion were used during the webinar via story telling, the large images on the slides, colors. By making people get up or do things and interjecting some ‘pop’ quizzes also took the approach away from being repetitive and boring as those activities are not always ‘expected’ during webinars and meetings. This was enjoyable and help my attention.

  • Thank you Sharon for the webinar. As a trainer I found it very helpful. Here is my response to the pop quiz.
    1. Novelty – Utilizing the images in the presentation was a new way of presenting information and engaged me in wanting to know how the content connects to the image.
    2. Contrast – Thumbs Up and Thumbs Down activity allow for the audience to critically think about and reflect on what they just learned. It is a nice tool for reviewing material that was covered.
    3. Meaning – You connected a couple of the slides to how they were being used by a dental association. Giving meaning to the alligator and skull slide connects these images to those topics.
    4. Emotion – Utilizing stories to help connect information to emotions. Also some of the images on the slides conveyed emotion.
Again thank you for providing some very practical presentation tools.

  • I heard and more importantly SAW two things that incorporated the elements of Novelty, Contrast, Meaning and Emotion. They were the size and style of the print on the slide and using photos versus clip art on the slides.

Thank you for reading!
